Playing with Gelatos
Another piece from the Decorative Doodling class, this background was doodled using Gelatos. A water brush was then used to activate the colour and allow it to spread. For some reason the green didn't cooperate, but the rest of the colours were like painting with butta' to quote Karen Ellis (Art House Studio) and Joanne Sharpe. I've added some doodles with a Pitt pen, but I have to say I'm not sold on the Gelatos yet...although the metalic ones were pretty cool!

I don't know what a gelato is. There are so many pens out there! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteActually Roberta Gelatos are a soft, waxy 'crayon' sort of thing. They actually come in a little plastic tube similar to lipstick, that comes up as you turn the case. They react to water and just melt into buttery colour. I haven't bought any yet, but they were fun to play with in the workshop.
DeleteOh I am so addicted to Gelatos!!! I absolutely love them. I just finished a 'landscape' piece for Color Love 101 where I was to use the Inktense pencils (which I love the Faber Castell pencils so much more) and I couldn't help myself...I had to use the Gelatos for the sky...they give a much more softer look than anything else I have used. I also love how they 'smudge'....I use them around collage pieces in my journal instead of charcoal pencil...and on the journal edges...can you tell I'm addicted???
ReplyDeleteI can see how you could get addicted. They certainly are lovely to work with. I haven't bought any yet...I have so many art supplies already...trying to show a little restraint...
