The Journey Continues...

A couple of weeks ago, I started a journal (you can see the first post here), and today I have finally finished the second spread.  The journey is all about thinking positive thoughts and moving forward on a healing journey.  I can't think of a better way to do that than through art!

You can see a couple of the stages the page went through as I worked on it.  I just love seeing the transformation as colour and shading is added to the page.

I use a 0.005 Micron to do the actually journalling on the page once the art is done.

My writing is super tiny, but it allows me to get a lot of thoughts onto the page and work through the many things I've been reading and thinking about.  I also like the added texture that the background text gives the page.  It's a great way to make a pretty looking spread (if I do say so myself) while keeping the 'heavier' underlying text from taking over the page.

  1. I admire the way you put your words and images together. I don't seem to be able to do that....

    1. Thanks Roberta. I've found a lot of inspiration and ideas in online classes like "21 Secrets" and such.

  2. I love your style Linda both in your journalling and your fibre art. I had thought you'd used printed text for these backgrounds but I was amazed to read you had written every word yourself. very inspiring.

    1. Thanks Jane. Yes, the reason behind this art journal is the purpose, the art is just secondary...the relaxing, fun part!

  4. Linda,
Your journal is really coming along nicely. I also have admired Valerie Sjodin's work. (I am looking forward to her future online classes.) I am curiou about what you are using to put down your color. You are getting such nice gradation. Tombows maybe?

    1. Thanks Kris. And yes, her online classes would be amazing. A friend of mine is going to take a class with her in Oregon in June. Wish I could go too! I have used Tombows but I also use my Winsor Newton watercolour paints too. I like the ease with which you can mix and layer them as you work.

    1. Thanks Janet. I don't usually write that small. It's a journalling thing...keeps my inner thoughts more private since even if you saw it in person you probably couldn't be bothered to try and read it. LOL
