Sunset Silhouette...

I've been working on a lesson by Kim Klassen in Beyond Beyond, in which she taught us how to make 'magic' textures by inverting a texture and then adding some adjustment layers.  I used Kim's 'kk_dollard_grunge' texture to create my magic version and then used it over this image to add a bit of texture to the silhouette.

This and That...

The other day I was going through some of the photos I've taken recently and I thought I'd share these.
A female Ruby Throated Hummingbird

Blue Spotted Salamander...I found this little guy when I was picking up a rock while doing a bit of gardening.
Our view at the end of another beautiful summer day!

And finally, last week I posted a series of shots of the Downy woodpecker, and someone has taken the ones of the adult feeding the youth, and put them into a .gif file and somehow added it to my Google+ photo album (something which I was thinking I should do but hadn't got around to).  Thank you to whoever it was!  (Please leave a comment to identify yourself if you're reading this.)

Sunsets: Focussing on the Fading Light

Inspired by Kim (Texture Tuesday) and Bonnie (Photo Art Friday), this post a collection of sunsets and sunrises taken over the last couple of weeks.

My husband and I go for a leisurely boat cruise each evening, and many of these shots are taken while either out on the boat, or from the dock once we return from our cruise.

I love the glowing reflection of the sunset on the lake.

"Red sky at night, sailer's delight."

We certainly like to see the beautiful pinks and mauves that signal another beautiful day to come.

I love the wonderful silhouettes of the trees.

Another glowing reflection of the sun on the water.  This is actually the sunrise.
Sometimes, before the pink sky come these wonderful blues and oranges.

I especially love the evenings when there are some clouds in the sky to add texture and dimension to the shot.
Here I captured my husband's silhouetted profile  in the foreground of the shot.
This shot was taken only a moment later, but I love how there is a double sun - other worldly...
This is one of my favourites.  I love the variety of colours in the sky.

Colour Sampling

Today it's raining, so I decided to catch up on some of my Beyond Layers lessons.  This lesson from a couple of weeks ago had Kim teaching us how to create a colour storyboard using a photo and sampling colours from the image.  I love all of the great tip Kim gives us.  I had done this sort of thing before, but Kim taught me a few more tricks to make the process faster and easier.

This sunset photo was taken about a week ago.  I love the silhouette of the paddlers in their canoe as they make their way toward the island in front of our cottage.

Photos Of My Week

This beautiful image of the sunset behind a barn in Northern Indiana, complete with the wonderful vapour trails of jets, is the image that I keep coming back to as I work through the stresses of the last few days.  It was taken while my husband and I were camping on a mini vacation last week.

These next two images were taken within a couple of hours of our return home.  Fortunately we saw our son before we saw what remains of my Escape.  Thank goodness he will be fine and there was no one in the passenger seat when he was hit.  The thoughts of what might have been still cause my knees to shake!
