Bead Journal Project: October

Vicki's colour palette this month was an interesting surprise.  I guess I was thinking all things October and expected to see oranges, reds, yellows...the colours of changing leaves, pumpkins etc.  However, that is not what Vicki had in mind.  I wasn't sure where I wanted to take this piece, but I liked the original design in the image Vicki used so I decided to essentially stretch it and make it fit my shape for this month.

My husbands birthday is in October, and this year was a milestone birthday so I've also subtly included his age into the piece using stylized numbers.

And here is the full year's spiral in progress.  It's really coming along!  Hard to believe tomorrow will already be November.  Where has this year gone?

  3. This is exhibition quality work, Linda! I love the juxtaposition of your graphic style on some of the individual pieces with the flow of the whole. And more than anything I love the way you have with colors.

Thanks for mentioning next year... you remind me that I need to find some helpers. Might you be willing?

    1. Thanks so much Robin. As for helping next year, I'd need to know more about what you need before I can take on any commitments. What would the help involve?

  6. Linda it's just wonderful. I've been keeping up with the progress all along the way & just wishing that I had the guts to participate. All those gorgeous beads. Terrific work...too much work for me I think.

    1. Thanks Leah. Consider joining for 2013. You can always work smaller. I certainly plan to do something smaller and less time consuming next year. Although I'm loving this piece, it has been very time intensive. The pieces also don't have to be fully encrusted with beads either, so you could do a series that has some of your fabulous fibre art with some beading on them. Maybe a series of ATCs...

  15. Unbelievable!! That is amazing. I tried to bead a small collar once and it didn't turn out very well. I can't even imagine the amount of time that has gone into this piece. Absolutely incredible!

    1. Thanks so much. It really is a lot of time investment, but I use that time to 'listen' to TV...so it's time well wasted. LOL

  19. Fabulous piece, of course! I love the softer colours, but I see that you still managed to include a bit of orange. I wonder what your favourite colour is? As for me, I still haven't started October, but I'm getting closer. Those darned numbers are getting harder and harder to find. I know, I'll just need to be creative!!! LOL!

    1. Thanks Anne Marie. It's been an interesting challenge to use Vicki's colour palettes. I tend to use a lot of blues (notice the background of my blog-that would indicate my favourites...blues, aquas, greens), and I also love red. Have you signed up for BJP 2013 yet? I'm the 'blog angel' this year. LOL
