Last week I shared some shots of one of the pairs of loons on our lake. Today I have a series of shots showcasing the baby. Have I mentioned how lucky we are to be able to enjoy these incredible moments!
Wonderful photos! These have to be my very favorite birds! I remember when I was a little girl, we had a cabin up in Minnesota, and I well remember the haunting cry of the loons on the lake. Awesome birds and what great shots these are.
I've seen plenty of loons here in Ontario, but never babies. I've never been there at the right time, I guess. Thanks for posting these very nice photos.
Thanks. I'm happy to share these moments. We find the little guys usually tend to hatch around the 2nd or 3 week of July on our lake which is about 30 minutes north of Huntsville, ON.

ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanne. They are beautiful in their summer 'finery'. In the winter, when they go south they turn a plain grey/brown colour.

DeleteGreat photos Linda, I love to hear the loons, and we have quite a few here in the Bay.
ReplyDeleteThanks Char. It's fun to watch the little ones grow up and as you say, their call is wonderful.
