After The Storm

After the two day snow storm last week, we awoke to the most beautifully breathtaking sight out our windows. The neighbourhood was covered with a thick blanket of snow and it was early enough that it was still pristine...no footprints or tire tracks to mar the perfect covering of about six fresh inches of snow.  Then, we realized that because it was so wet and sticky, our snowblower probably wouldn't cope well with it and we'd have to shovel that heavy stuff...'sigh'.  But, on the bright side I got lots of exercise and fresh air!

Needless to say, I also took some pics.  This one was tinkered with in Lightroom, to bring up the blue tone in the sky just a bit and then I added Kim's kk_wonderfulmagic_scripted texture using a screen blend mode.  I decided to use the Sweetly Broken font for my text since I believe that's what Kim has used in some of her text around the border of the texture.

  1. heh, that's funny. the font sets it up well. It builds anticipation for something romantic and profound then turns into a joke. sweet.

    1. So true Molly. The day of that storm the temperature was just below freezing...a beautiful, mild winter day and it was gorgeous. I wouldn't mind a few weeks of mild winter with lots of snow but I'm a wimp when it comes to the freezing cold and wind chills we so often have to deal with. Bring on the Spring!

    1. Thanks Kim. They are beautiful, but honestly I could do without them in favour of warm weather year round. :o)

  10. I love what you did with the picture! Oh, such a beautiful sky and funny text too :) but the snowy branches are my favorite. I ALWAYS enjoy seeing snowy pictures because I LOVE snow! Since we get so little of it here in North Texas, I have to get my snow joy from photos and dreaming about it.
Thank you so much for sharing!
    Have a magnificent day!

    1. Thanks Donna. I must admit, although I don't care too much for winter, the snow does look beautiful, especially when it covers the trees like this. Too bad we can't have some snow while keeping the temperature warm.

  13. humour is always weclome in my world and I see it's here too.. wonderful wonderful photo image -- the way you snap shot the snow resting on the tree limbs with a blue(ish) sky background allowing the tree covered with snow stand out -- is prefect O..

    1. Oh Kris, I do hope you have the same beautiful coverings on the trees. If you must have the work, at least you should be able to enjoy taking some photos before you get to the work. Enjoy the coco...great way to warm up after the work!
